[00:00:00] Welcome to Foil Life. Whether you wing, kite, parowing, downwind, pump or e-foil, thanks for being here. Alright Floris, welcome back my man. Yes, hi Luke, how are you doing? Doing alright. Today's the day, right? We're announcing some winners. Yes, we're announcing some winners on the first day of Defi. Are you going to be able to get out there this year?
[00:00:28] Absolutely. Our team is going to be there. Paola arrived there, she's on site. So when you register for Defi, there will be a little water speed booth and you can come say hello. And I'm going to be there from Monday onwards for Defi Wing and Defi Wind Surf. And the wind is looking promising, so that's very exciting. And I think we can announce that we are doing something pretty cool.
[00:00:56] We're still kind of testing it for now, but I think for Defi Wing and Defi Wind, we're going to do kind of a live stream. Not a live stream as in cameras, but we're going to live stream your session on a map with all your timing so that your family and friends can follow your tracks at home. So that's exciting. Kind of announcing it here now already, so I hope the team is happy with that. Yeah, so that's very exciting.
[00:01:26] We're kind of testing it now during Defi Kites. It's something that fell kind of into our lap over the past few days. So we were developing something else and then we thought like, hey, with some small adjustments, we can deliver this to Defi as well. So it's very exciting because there's not going to be a live stream this year for Defi, so at least we can bring this to the audience. And yeah, so come to the booth and we will show you exactly how to set it up.
[00:01:54] I would recommend download the WaterSpeed app already and bring a waterproof pouch for your phone if you don't have a cellular connected watch so that you can live stream your activities. And then, yeah, you're going to be live. So that's going to be displayed on the big screen on some websites. And yeah, it's pretty sick, eh? Fun stuff. That is cool. Yeah. And so in order to do that, who gets to wear those infamous yellow jerseys?
[00:02:24] Yes. Let's dive into that. Not much changed in compared to last week, actually. So to start off with Defi Kite, and if you looked on Instagram, you might have figured out who won that already. So Leopold, nothing changed there. 24 minutes and 36 seconds. He is where he is on top of the leaderboards. He is wearing the yellow jersey.
[00:02:52] Second place, Martin Bastien. And in third place, Pierre Rapido, which we'll have a fun little nugget about him later. All right. Pierre Rapido with 27 minutes and 49 seconds in the kiting challenge. Ben, we go. Notre ami Erwan Geoffroy avec 29 minutes and 55 seconds. All right. 29.55. Crushing it in fourth place.
[00:03:22] Out of the way, Erwan. Yeah. Well done, Erwan. Then we have in Wingfoil, same as last week's update. So we have Martin. Sorry for butchering your name. Pieter Kjavits. Can you do that better with? That is a cool name. I'm putting you on the spot. Pieter Kjavits. Yeah, that was a tough one. That's a tough one. 24 minutes and 17 seconds. Pierrot Rapido.
[00:03:49] 25 minutes, 37 seconds. So a bit faster on the wing setup than kite setup. Interesting. Yeah. Yeah. Not sure if he was kiting on the twin tip or foiling or kind of what the wind speeds were. It was in the same location. In Brest. Yeah. In Brest. Yeah. So that's looking like, yeah, he was doing, he did both of his sessions from the same spot.
[00:04:19] And then Rio Pierre Mael came in third with 25.58. Also a pretty good speed. And then our friend Erwan was in 15th. All right. Multi, multi event for Erwan. So looking like this, this is quite interesting. The windsurf, fin and foil. Out of all the times, they were the fastest. Well, we had Leopold with 24 minutes and 36 in kites. So he was up there. You're right. You're right. That's true, actually. Never mind.
[00:04:47] It was on the premier Jean Le Gall that was the fastest time of the entire competition. He was the only one, suck 24 minutes. So it looks like 24 minutes, if you're below that, that's then you're in the top. Yeah. All right. Let's hop into windsurf, fin and foil. We had Jean Le Gall, 23.55. Congratulations, sir. Top speed of every competitor.
[00:05:12] Out of 41,207 kilometers, you performed yours the fastest. Then we had Charlie. You got that last name. Charlie Den. There we go. 24 minutes, 23 seconds. That is a pretty fast speed, you know? That is 20. Yeah, that's the second fastest of the entire. No, Martin was 24,17. Oh, you're right.
[00:05:41] So he's in third position then overall. Yeah. Yeah. Just beating out Leopold at 24,36. Exactly. Awesome. And then in third, we have with 24 minutes and 34 seconds, we have Pierre Gribal and all the fin foil sessions that were done in Gruisson. Oh, it looks like it's really lighting up there, Gruisson. So that's very exciting to see.
[00:06:08] So in total of all these challenges, we had over 1,000 sessions logged. And as Luke was mentioning before already, we have 41,207 kilometers logged in total. So that is doing well. And then we dove a little bit deeper into the data and we found some, again, some nice little nuggets here.
[00:06:39] So first of all, Michael George, our friend, windsurfing friend, he logged together with Thomas Proust 19 sessions during this challenge window. So they were the most dedicated. But then we have some serious sessions in there. Dominic Cochel spending 10 hours on the water covering 178 kilometers in one activity.
[00:07:07] So that is like serious dedication. But there is one fella, Piero Rapido. He spent 11 hours on the water and he spent 354 kilometers winging. He is a Rapido. Yeah. That is like serious training, right? Like if you want to get ready. Holy shit. Like I wonder how shredded his legs are coming into death. Congratulations, Piero. That is amazing.
[00:07:36] Yeah. That is mental. What's your longest session you've done, Luke? I would get called the Energizer Bunny because I would last six to seven hours, but I don't think I've ever done an 11 hour day. Yeah. That's impressive. Yeah. That is pure dedication. Mine, I think like not very long in total, but just like go out for a session, two hours, then have half an hour break and then do another like two hour session, but never like consecutive. I don't know if I've done consecutive either.
[00:08:06] I'd take a short little grab a sandwich and an apple, then go back out. Yeah. But that is quite impressive. Yeah. 354 kilometers in one. On a wing. One. And I looked at his session, like there were some small breaks in between, but nothing of like an hour break. There was like maybe 10, 15 minutes. Yeah. And that's it. So, Piero Rapido. Yeah. It's, uh, I'm looking forward to meeting you at DeFi.
[00:08:35] I wonder if he was hooked in the whole time or if he was just arm barring that thing. Is that even possible? That's something to ask. I'm sure he was hooked in, but if not, holy shit, you got Hulk Hogan arms. Definitely. Hulk Hogan. Oh, wow. Well, I'm going to, I'm going to look for Hulk Hogan from Monday onwards at DeFi and see if we can, see if we can find him. He rests in peace. He just passed this year, actually. That's sad. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Winsurf, 19 sessions.
[00:09:04] Michael George. Yeah. Wing, 19 sessions. Thomas Proust. Yeah. Thomas Proust. Wow. Yeah. Exactly. So that's kind of, uh, that kind of wraps up the, um, the challenges for, for DeFi 2026. So the event is about to start and we, we can't wait to see you live at the event. Come, come say hello. Yeah.
[00:09:31] And, um, enjoy this, this additions of, uh, of DeFi. Are you guys going to be able to do some Instagram lives or something from there and tag us in? I think that would be super fun. Yeah. Yeah, for sure. We can definitely do, do things like this. Yeah. So keep an eye out on, uh, the For Life Podcast, uh, Instagram channel and on the Whaterspeed Instagram channel. And we're going to see you there as well. Awesome, buddy. Hey, enjoy your time.
[00:10:00] And yeah, we'll chat with you soon. Sounds good. Thanks, Luke. All right. You're welcome. All right. Bye guys.
