[00:02:34] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, sure it's a pleasure to be on the podcast and talk about a bit of everything.

[00:02:40] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah absolutely so you're wearing what is that an elevator hat?

[00:02:43] [SPEAKER_03]: Elevate head and elevate shirt. Actually it's a kite shirt which with says,

[00:02:48] [SPEAKER_03]: I never let go and it has like the skeleton hands on the bar. They were based on the back.

[00:02:55] [SPEAKER_03]: Pretty hard to show but yeah pretty funny. Can you read it?

[00:02:59] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah our passion is your elevate. Yeah yeah yeah passion is yours. Right yeah.

[00:03:04] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh that's cool. So wingfoiling.

[00:03:09] [SPEAKER_00]: When did you start the whole wind sport journey?

[00:03:12] [SPEAKER_03]: I think we should start with water sports in general actually because I was very first starting

[00:03:18] [SPEAKER_03]: with stand up paddling actually. I think I started at like seven. I was like seven years old and

[00:03:25] [SPEAKER_03]: my dad was in general a very passionate water sports all around guy. So you first put me on

[00:03:35] [SPEAKER_03]: stand up stand up paddling. I really liked that till I think I was 10.

[00:03:43] [SPEAKER_03]: Went to some to some camps to practice a bit but just for the fun aspect you know I was

[00:03:49] [SPEAKER_03]: 70 years old didn't like think of becoming a pro. I didn't even know you can you can become one.

[00:03:56] [SPEAKER_03]: So I was just doing that. Yeah. No it was quite fun went to some camps and since then

[00:04:04] [SPEAKER_03]: there were all called me the machine oh no because I think I was like the only only dude

[00:04:10] [SPEAKER_03]: there was so passionate already about water sports and I was always like the guy who was

[00:04:16] [SPEAKER_03]: paddling with 100% you know I was back started to go out and yeah that's what it called me that.

[00:04:25] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah started with SUP and then I think it was already nine years old where first started wind surfing

[00:04:34] [SPEAKER_03]: but actually only for like a bit you know my dad got me on it but I wasn't really strong enough

[00:04:41] [SPEAKER_03]: and I could really hold on to on to the sail. I'm tried it like three times but basically just

[00:04:49] [SPEAKER_03]: going down with and falling off again swimming back on what that was super worried.

[00:04:58] [SPEAKER_03]: Was quite funny yeah that's how I started and yeah then had a like little break till I

[00:05:08] [SPEAKER_03]: think I was 13 got into wind surfing again because my dad pushed me again as it was a little bit

[00:05:15] [SPEAKER_03]: scared after my experience before and yeah we tried it again I think I wind surfed like you know

[00:05:25] [SPEAKER_03]: most everybody every day for for the next year till I was 14 and then wind falling came up here

[00:05:32] [SPEAKER_03]: on the island and I wanted to try it out actually again my dad pushed us too to get into wind

[00:05:41] [SPEAKER_03]: falling and so we bought a setup from a local surf shop here tried it out no went great and had

[00:05:51] [SPEAKER_03]: of course also at the local school here and I think I got up to up on the full and one session

[00:06:00] [SPEAKER_03]: and serious I know was my first proper like session on the full and yeah could ride for like 20 meters

[00:06:09] [SPEAKER_03]: and then I obviously fell underwater yeah yeah and since then I think it's been like three years now

[00:06:20] [SPEAKER_03]: and you know since then I'm basically only on the full haven't gone back to any other water sport

[00:06:27] [SPEAKER_03]: yeah this wind surfing? Nah not really I mean no they also some wind surface at our spot

[00:06:34] [SPEAKER_03]: when we're wing falling and sometimes I think about man there was quite fun to just

[00:06:40] [SPEAKER_03]: know go like hell over the water with the planning board which is also quite a good feeling but

[00:06:47] [SPEAKER_03]: you know I just wanted to push push myself from wing falling because it's a new sport and

[00:06:54] [SPEAKER_03]: no I think it just matters a bit more in the future just how this yeah I think everything is going

[00:07:00] [SPEAKER_03]: in the direction but overall yeah but overall I also prefer wing falling not just because of the

[00:07:08] [SPEAKER_03]: like when you look at the future and stuff you know I've found free styling for me mostly

[00:07:15] [SPEAKER_03]: which I haven't done in wing falling and wind surfing before because actually I didn't really

[00:07:22] [SPEAKER_03]: like freestyle wind surfing as much as I do in wing falling I just really fell in love with these

[00:07:30] [SPEAKER_03]: flowy areas and tricks it just looked more like satisfying to me I think than the tricks and

[00:07:37] [SPEAKER_03]: wind surfing yeah that's basically why I'm staying on wing all day

[00:07:43] [SPEAKER_00]: that's fair so what was your first ever foil flight like you said you took a lesson and then from

[00:07:49] [SPEAKER_03]: there it just accelerated um yeah so I started at the school like I said yeah when for like 20

[00:07:57] [SPEAKER_03]: meters on the first actually on your old day on your first lesson you went 20 meters

[00:08:03] [SPEAKER_03]: there was my first lesson yeah wow actually I think only on one side though

[00:08:09] [SPEAKER_03]: I was waiting for you know it's not it was that I mean it was crazy for me to already go

[00:08:18] [SPEAKER_03]: on foil because of the instructors really hyped the up I thought it was like superman or something

[00:08:26] [SPEAKER_03]: no when it was 14 back then yeah how you feel yeah oh wow basically how I got into it

[00:08:35] [SPEAKER_00]: that's pretty cool okay so you went from there and when did you ever think about entering

[00:08:40] [SPEAKER_00]: into competition space is it just because you accelerated in the the machine came alive and this

[00:08:47] [SPEAKER_03]: for it and you became so good at this to do it actually they weren't calling me the machine anymore

[00:08:54] [SPEAKER_03]: yeah it was just when I was not yet I mean some do now what I'm doing some tricks but whatever

[00:09:04] [SPEAKER_03]: yeah now I thought like I mean I first started to focus on my drives and everything

[00:09:12] [SPEAKER_03]: which actually took me a bit longer than I expected unfortunately um I know it took me like

[00:09:20] [SPEAKER_03]: two months to complete the drive on or why but I think it has to do with switching quite a lot of

[00:09:28] [SPEAKER_03]: gear and that time so I had to get used to like every third or fourth session again

[00:09:35] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know yeah we're just struggling a bit with you know getting like all set up

[00:09:42] [SPEAKER_03]: that fits us so I think that's that's the reason but you know once I got the drive

[00:09:50] [SPEAKER_03]: started my first jumps and then I thought like yeah maybe I can push myself in the

[00:09:57] [SPEAKER_03]: hour and get into tricks plan it my first 360 360s with the handle pass no without the

[00:10:08] [SPEAKER_03]: bang away just do the body span yeah no some other 360 rotations just easy moves

[00:10:15] [SPEAKER_03]: and no that's when I thought okay let's get at least for now into some local competitions

[00:10:23] [SPEAKER_03]: and yes instead I'm riding on the local competitions here to now hopefully get to the

[00:10:31] [SPEAKER_00]: GWAS sometime in the future hopefully so it says here that you are the under 19 German champ

[00:10:45] [SPEAKER_03]: are you a national champion at the freestyle under 19 oh sick yes yes okay actually yeah thank you

[00:10:55] [SPEAKER_03]: really stoked about that actually as I really had a vision to complete that dream of mine

[00:11:08] [SPEAKER_00]: so it was all the dream was the dream was to become a champion before under 19

[00:11:16] [SPEAKER_03]: yeah that was kind of my goal for this year especially and so I went doing the winter you know from

[00:11:23] [SPEAKER_03]: like on November to a bit the beginning of May where the competition started I went out like

[00:11:33] [SPEAKER_03]: for free sessions every day after school and trade on my tricks and yeah we're super motivated all

[00:11:44] [SPEAKER_03]: yeah that's actually I got four in the men's category unfortunately lost against

[00:11:53] [SPEAKER_03]: the three time X were champion T-Tone Gallauder and the finals and I mean I think I had a chance

[00:12:02] [SPEAKER_03]: if I had the right wing size you know we just did some normal backflips which are quite impressive

[00:12:10] [SPEAKER_03]: don't get me wrong but you know we did some backflips front side 360s and front side 540s

[00:12:20] [SPEAKER_03]: but I could do all three of them I mean not the normal backflip but not the kind of modern I would say

[00:12:27] [SPEAKER_03]: modern backflip with the one hand a backflip which is the whole thing yeah all right so you trained

[00:12:33] [SPEAKER_00]: a lot you win this national championship for under 19 how did it feel to accomplish that goal

[00:12:40] [SPEAKER_03]: you would set for yourself it's such a young age actually you know obviously I was very stoked about

[00:12:48] [SPEAKER_03]: that result still I also all the time like still week after I found like damn what I lose against

[00:12:58] [SPEAKER_03]: the T-Tone Gallauder because yeah like as I said maybe could have had a chance and you know

[00:13:05] [SPEAKER_03]: maybe my name would have been even bigger by now ever would have actually beat T-Tone

[00:13:11] [SPEAKER_00]: no that's why I was so upset yeah I guess that makes sense so when did elevate and a3d

[00:13:22] [SPEAKER_00]: your two sponsors come forward and and want to work with you yeah I was first elevate cards

[00:13:31] [SPEAKER_03]: or wings now that came up to me last year in September and it was actually the local manager

[00:13:37] [SPEAKER_03]: from Firmann that came up to me in South AMA and Eripp I see you don't have a sponsor yet

[00:13:45] [SPEAKER_03]: you know ever look at my it all products he gave me a prototype of the 40 liter board they had

[00:13:52] [SPEAKER_03]: first of all I tried it for like two weeks really liked it and yeah then they got me into the team

[00:14:01] [SPEAKER_03]: no signed a contract and everything my gear arrived really enjoyed it no up in training

[00:14:09] [SPEAKER_03]: audit for now now for almost a year and yeah my level has gone up definitely a bit since I'm

[00:14:17] [SPEAKER_03]: writing elevate yeah and every day actually I contacted them or him maybe because I think it's only one

[00:14:28] [SPEAKER_03]: of the time I got it creates or created the brand yeah so I texted them just an IG before email

[00:14:39] [SPEAKER_03]: you know just got in contact with them told them that I found the product really brilliant

[00:14:48] [SPEAKER_03]: and also I came up with the idea because of what was doing winter when I texted them

[00:14:57] [SPEAKER_03]: and you know I found them I thought they would be really great especially in winter because we

[00:15:03] [SPEAKER_03]: have to wear gloves I think you're pretty familiar with that feeling as you live in Canada I heard

[00:15:08] [SPEAKER_03]: oh yeah oh yeah yeah I ate it so I thought like you know maybe a harness and a harness line

[00:15:17] [SPEAKER_03]: would help so you can write longer so don't have too much pressure on your hands and you know

[00:15:23] [SPEAKER_03]: I looked on the internet which brands have harness lines and all that stuff so yeah it texted them again

[00:15:33] [SPEAKER_03]: and no they sent me some stuff you know I'm writing for them the words like a I don't know

[00:15:40] [SPEAKER_03]: like a bungee leash I call it at least yeah because it like swaps back once you unlock

[00:15:47] [SPEAKER_03]: and especially for freestyle it does bother you that much when you're writing unhooked

[00:15:53] [SPEAKER_03]: so it doesn't like tangled around with the normal winds are funnest they still use some people

[00:16:00] [SPEAKER_03]: yeah that's why I came up to them and you know because mainly my my my main part is freestyle

[00:16:08] [SPEAKER_03]: and again I mostly wanted it because of the because of the cold winter to write longer

[00:16:16] [SPEAKER_03]: no just speed up with the harness hooked in and hooked with a trick hook in again and

[00:16:22] [SPEAKER_03]: less your fingers and your arms so yeah really hooked a lot yeah I'm looking for it to

[00:16:30] [SPEAKER_00]: try them actually because I was I do like some big downwinders what I go to Mexico in the winter time

[00:16:36] [SPEAKER_00]: and I would do a six kilometer upwinder in about an hour and a bit oh yeah

[00:16:44] [SPEAKER_00]: I was thinking maybe you're a d's here this year with a harness

[00:16:49] [SPEAKER_01]: yeah actually you can order them right now with my cold there we go I was talking to him as well

[00:16:56] [SPEAKER_00]: I think I think he was getting 10% off 10% oh yeah nice I think he was going to come on the show

[00:17:05] [SPEAKER_00]: as well and I was gonna just talk to him about them but okay cool so what are you going on

[00:17:13] [SPEAKER_00]: I think you had mentioned you had a few you had been to a few events lately and you had a few

[00:17:19] [SPEAKER_03]: events coming up in Germany yeah I've been to pretty much all local events for the past two years

[00:17:29] [SPEAKER_03]: actually then really well on them the two past two years but you know as I said finally this

[00:17:38] [SPEAKER_03]: paid off yeah I got some good results and yeah been doing damn and really enjoyed them

[00:17:49] [SPEAKER_00]: that's cool which ones where your favorite ones in the last year that you went to

[00:17:54] [SPEAKER_03]: you know probably the first of all this year because it was at my hometown my home island

[00:18:01] [SPEAKER_03]: you better call it because it's a really small island on a level it's called fame on actually

[00:18:07] [SPEAKER_03]: maybe some of you know it free month kind of the winds wind fayman fay god yeah with with a r

[00:18:17] [SPEAKER_03]: oh ferry mn that was kind of yeah it's kind of winds wind sport macca for

[00:18:25] [SPEAKER_03]: everybody that lives in Germany but it's nice you know you can get to every spot with maximum of 30 minutes

[00:18:33] [SPEAKER_03]: to get to by car and I love next to my home spot it's like five minutes by bike for me

[00:18:42] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean we don't have like super big waves obviously like you have on Maui or something

[00:18:48] [SPEAKER_03]: but you have I mean on a 30 to 40 not stay there can be like two to three meters waves almost

[00:18:56] [SPEAKER_03]: like the best waves spot here but mostly we get like 20 knots to 25

[00:19:07] [SPEAKER_03]: during the spring to no not spring time especially in the winter time it can get really

[00:19:13] [SPEAKER_03]: winter here oh that's why I could almost go on a water every day yeah but basically we have the most

[00:19:22] [SPEAKER_03]: wind and in whole Germany here after zoet maybe you know when we have like 50 knots here

[00:19:30] [SPEAKER_03]: there they're like 25 on zoet every time every time this yeah like ten five knots more more wind

[00:19:39] [SPEAKER_03]: yeah but basically flat water two little chop waves perfect for downward folding actually

[00:19:47] [SPEAKER_03]: you know but the Baltics are some nice chop waves and very nice kickets for my preference

[00:19:56] [SPEAKER_00]: oh awesome okay so this is where you train the freestyle oh that's so cool yeah

[00:20:03] [SPEAKER_03]: now I prefer to go out and shop at a spot that's called out and tides and an off of fiemann

[00:20:10] [SPEAKER_03]: you know on a 20 knots day like today actually I'm looking outside right now there's like 22

[00:20:18] [SPEAKER_03]: 40 knots going out after they probably like 1.5 chop nut right now okay perfect for me because

[00:20:28] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm jumping left left foot forward and the wind comes from the left side so it's perfect you

[00:20:36] [SPEAKER_00]: oh nice like my favorite spot here yeah what's your favorite need to come visit yeah but my

[00:20:44] [SPEAKER_00]: well you know frankly our social media manager and then Matt as well they live near oh forgot now

[00:20:53] [SPEAKER_00]: they're in Germany there's the Frankfurt they're near Frankfurt Germany actually yeah okay yeah

[00:21:02] [SPEAKER_00]: no but spot actually but I want to get over to Germany for uh for the october fast and stuff

[00:21:11] [SPEAKER_00]: I want some German food I think that would be so good yeah go get it nice so you said that

[00:21:21] [SPEAKER_00]: is the foil festival coming up soon in Germany is that the biggest event that you were mentioning

[00:21:27] [SPEAKER_03]: actually or just happened yeah it's kind of like the biggest event here you know 50 brands almost

[00:21:35] [SPEAKER_03]: that presented stuff at the beach you can test and also the open German championships for

[00:21:42] [SPEAKER_03]: freestyle this year so they separated like every category and wing falling to different events

[00:21:49] [SPEAKER_03]: we had a lot of race also in the near here at the ballic sea but at a different spot

[00:21:58] [SPEAKER_03]: you know actually one event that's coming up it's it's the wave tour of Germany

[00:22:04] [SPEAKER_03]: they do it on the side of course yeah looking forward to that it's like two weeks I think

[00:22:11] [SPEAKER_03]: oh awesome yeah that's actually the last stop though for this year so we only have like

[00:22:18] [SPEAKER_03]: four events that are participating and free already happened yeah okay so the foil first to

[00:22:26] [SPEAKER_03]: us actually over for this year okay it was already in May which I'm pretty stoked about because we have

[00:22:37] [SPEAKER_03]: mostly Eastwinds in the May on on the beach where they do it and it's perfect for me because I can

[00:22:43] [SPEAKER_03]: left foot forward do a lot of tricks very easily so you're pretty stoked that that happened already

[00:22:52] [SPEAKER_00]: so why when that time zone what tricks are you currently working on and what were the ones

[00:22:57] [SPEAKER_03]: that you had in the bag for the competitions during the competition I just went for for my easy moves

[00:23:07] [SPEAKER_03]: I like the tabletop 360s some back loops front side for 50s and actually I practiced

[00:23:16] [SPEAKER_03]: one-handed pullout back foot during the competition when I was already placed once and the

[00:23:25] [SPEAKER_03]: United category and when I wasn't final against T1 and Benjamin May and

[00:23:32] [SPEAKER_03]: Henning Nokel actually I don't know if you know him not the last one but the other two boys I do

[00:23:39] [SPEAKER_03]: okay that's nice that shows that it's maybe quite important important event

[00:23:46] [SPEAKER_03]: so I tried the Palauflip during the finals because I already knew okay I already won

[00:23:55] [SPEAKER_03]: yeah actually I was pretty close to learning it and the competition already

[00:24:02] [SPEAKER_03]: you know I had like two or three once where I came down and directly went on the foil instead of

[00:24:09] [SPEAKER_03]: the board then I could have done another one no come yes when like this

[00:24:20] [SPEAKER_03]: yeah almost but like four to four you come but you know proper four to four you know with

[00:24:25] [SPEAKER_03]: touching the board yeah yeah I couldn't I couldn't do it but it was like that

[00:24:32] [SPEAKER_03]: hold your hands so that way where my moves okay so what are you quite easy moves but

[00:24:38] [SPEAKER_03]: I can't do them so they're still pretty kind of yeah I mean when you compare to the GW

[00:24:46] [SPEAKER_03]: yeah I know because it's almost nothing but I'm not trying yeah yeah what but actually by now

[00:24:55] [SPEAKER_03]: I can I can finally do the Palauflip at least four to four practicing on a combo now but

[00:25:03] [SPEAKER_03]: cool you don't have to proper foil and conditions also so backflip into what are you going

[00:25:10] [SPEAKER_00]: to do for your combo move what you mean well like backflip into 360 backflip into another backflip

[00:25:19] [SPEAKER_03]: like what are you thinking of you doing backflip into backflip? No not yet I first have to get

[00:25:26] [SPEAKER_03]: really used to doing another bifter but at least because I don't know why but I'm still a bit scared

[00:25:34] [SPEAKER_03]: really sent a wing over you had make I can pretty I can do them pretty consistently now with the

[00:25:45] [SPEAKER_03]: Palau but actually with the handlepass you know how they do them now actually first saw them from

[00:25:52] [SPEAKER_03]: unfolded if it's right on them no with the handlepass really like that one but right now I'm training

[00:26:04] [SPEAKER_03]: on mostly the basic moves because they have to learn them now like the front flips backflips

[00:26:15] [SPEAKER_03]: very very close to learning 720s at least but I think like flips are more my thing then

[00:26:24] [SPEAKER_03]: you know these horizontal spins yeah okay shining on the normal stuff right now so what goes

[00:26:34] [SPEAKER_00]: into learning a front flip then what are you finding challenging what's exciting about it is a pretty

[00:26:40] [SPEAKER_03]: area just throw yourself over yeah actually I have tried one the first one I tried in January

[00:26:50] [SPEAKER_03]: already but it was like really small I was still very scared to like really

[00:26:56] [SPEAKER_03]: lean myself against the wing so actually when training at first and you know turned the wing around

[00:27:04] [SPEAKER_03]: because I thought it was way easier to to do them like this first because the leading

[00:27:09] [SPEAKER_03]: hatch is already pointing to the water so I don't have to like bring it to the water first

[00:27:16] [SPEAKER_03]: which cost time in the air and maybe I don't get the full rotation so I started them like this

[00:27:23] [SPEAKER_03]: because I actually saw them from Bart's mother he didn't like this yeah I mean they worked out

[00:27:31] [SPEAKER_03]: I didn't I didn't learn but I went for the full rotation

[00:27:36] [SPEAKER_03]: yeah I have tried the last session but more front loop style so where you like pull the back hand

[00:27:45] [SPEAKER_03]: and you know put your put your head back and lean fully forward into it and not

[00:27:53] [SPEAKER_03]: not flipping yourself over the wing directly because I still find it quite weird definitely need to

[00:28:05] [SPEAKER_03]: I think not bounce but some some other some other guys yeah for sure yeah

[00:28:14] [SPEAKER_03]: yes I'm a practicing on on the front loop style right now I think first to to let this one

[00:28:23] [SPEAKER_03]: but then I finally have to roll myself over the wing maybe I do it today okay we'll see

[00:28:31] [SPEAKER_00]: take some pictures take some videos send it over to us show us your progress always got the go

[00:28:37] [SPEAKER_00]: pro with me yeah yeah I don't doubt nice stock to so is there skiing is there biking like

[00:28:46] [SPEAKER_00]: what are your favorite sports to do when you're not in the water actually I only do water sports

[00:28:51] [SPEAKER_03]: no you can't really do biking here because literally I have no mountains it's flat as a pancake here

[00:28:59] [SPEAKER_03]: but it's no problem for me because we live on FEMA because we want to be surrounded only by water

[00:29:09] [SPEAKER_03]: and that's why I only do water sports when there's no wind I enjoy palm falling or

[00:29:18] [SPEAKER_03]: right now practicing also my flat water pedal ups with the downward board okay how's that going

[00:29:24] [SPEAKER_03]: because we're going well I think I can go on a waste by now no palm myself up on the 75

[00:29:32] [SPEAKER_03]: little Armstrong but we're very pretty big front for you and after say at least

[00:29:40] [SPEAKER_03]: yeah no the flat is going great can wait to get a waste with it because I think on a

[00:29:47] [SPEAKER_03]: light would day where it's just a little shop like have a meal or maybe you can have some fun on that

[00:29:54] [SPEAKER_00]: thing oh yeah no I'm looking forward to trying that more this winter yes so not super easy but

[00:30:00] [SPEAKER_03]: kind of relaxing once you got a hang of it I feel like because you're just gliding and connecting

[00:30:07] [SPEAKER_00]: the waves you know very simple I think hmm now do you have where will you do it there because

[00:30:14] [SPEAKER_00]: there's a couple of bays on the island are you just going to do it from the start of one day

[00:30:18] [SPEAKER_03]: to the start of the next bay kind of thing yeah we actually have two very passionate

[00:30:25] [SPEAKER_03]: subdown with us already that are kind of pros and they always go from we look at the map from

[00:30:32] [SPEAKER_03]: island time which is in the very left of the island to the very right of the island which is called

[00:30:39] [SPEAKER_03]: put on and that's like you know 10 kilometers from each other okay and you know they just down with

[00:30:49] [SPEAKER_03]: to the next spot have a car parked there drive back up and maybe do another run you know they they can't

[00:30:56] [SPEAKER_00]: stop okay oh nice okay so that's something fun that do I mean it's pretty yeah I think the this

[00:31:06] [SPEAKER_03]: advantage is only that you have to kind of organize it all the time when you're going to do down

[00:31:14] [SPEAKER_03]: winning because you know you have to find another one that once you go out and have to go to the

[00:31:21] [SPEAKER_03]: island spot first to park the car there but at least the setup is not much you know just have to

[00:31:27] [SPEAKER_03]: mount your foot your pedal is already set up getting the width so then it's done that's true so

[00:31:34] [SPEAKER_03]: have some safety gear yeah maybe I mean we have one guy that only goes a board short sometimes when

[00:31:44] [SPEAKER_03]: it's like 15 degrees really he doesn't care you know he even goes out when it's offshore actually yeah

[00:31:50] [SPEAKER_00]: like this he's a so for the rest of us what's the the ocean temperature like there

[00:31:58] [SPEAKER_03]: right now it has like I think 19 to 20 degrees of its warm but in the winter it was really cold like

[00:32:06] [SPEAKER_03]: 76 degrees yeah okay so let's get in the picture here but maybe in like the almost to the end

[00:32:16] [SPEAKER_03]: of the summer it can get like 24 sometimes degrees have you guys taken any photos of

[00:32:23] [SPEAKER_00]: have you taken any family trips to other spots around the world that you've gotten to win for

[00:32:28] [SPEAKER_03]: a letter yeah I've been to a footer and toura last year and April actually a met's

[00:32:38] [SPEAKER_03]: unquote so sadder one of the GW riders and had a little ride with it was really stoked yet there

[00:32:46] [SPEAKER_03]: you know it's always great to ride with I would say better riders to progress of course

[00:32:55] [SPEAKER_03]: yeah so went there actually on the sota vento beach where they have to work up in a few days

[00:33:02] [SPEAKER_03]: really really enjoyed that because you know watercolors and saying

[00:33:06] [SPEAKER_03]: say the beautiful just good vibes really enjoyed that went to Denmark already

[00:33:16] [SPEAKER_03]: a coat or why and so I'm really great waves you know very enjoyable days well okay

[00:33:28] [SPEAKER_03]: actually for every trip I went with my family yeah that's cool also I had a couple of friends with

[00:33:36] [SPEAKER_03]: this year I was Egypt before the fall festival to have a little training there with

[00:33:43] [SPEAKER_03]: then martins to JP rider awesome yeah it was very stoked about that as well no I had

[00:33:52] [SPEAKER_03]: had had some training sessions with him trained on the backflip he actually got me into the

[00:33:59] [SPEAKER_03]: pull-off loop and because I went there and first wanted to train on the front flip but he said

[00:34:06] [SPEAKER_03]: nah you first need to learn the pull-off loop it's so easy and you know unfortunately we also didn't

[00:34:14] [SPEAKER_03]: really have the conditions to learn the front flip so that's why he told me to better do that

[00:34:21] [SPEAKER_03]: because the amazing thing about the pull-off loop is that you can do it with very five meters like

[00:34:27] [SPEAKER_03]: nuts so you can do it pretty much every time and yeah that's why he got me into that move

[00:34:35] [SPEAKER_03]: yeah I went to Egypt for a week and made this year and yeah that was where my

[00:34:47] [SPEAKER_00]: my spots were went to already it's cool how how was Egypt you guys travel around and see any

[00:34:53] [SPEAKER_03]: tourists and local destinations and stuff apart from wind not really we were kind of far away from

[00:35:00] [SPEAKER_03]: the from the city so yeah we were really focused on getting on the water basically almost

[00:35:11] [SPEAKER_03]: only so yeah unfortunately didn't really get to see a lot from Egypt besides the beautiful water

[00:35:22] [SPEAKER_03]: as well and some turtles I saw luckily I didn't see a shark so yeah yeah makes sense that's cool

[00:35:31] [SPEAKER_03]: see actually also the special thing about Egypt is that they have like sea cows very very

[00:35:39] [SPEAKER_03]: interesting out of them it's actually so well in water do you have a watsur

[00:35:43] [SPEAKER_03]: no sea cow no never heard of that sea cow really I don't know if there's a correct

[00:35:50] [SPEAKER_03]: words oh it looks like it looks like a brown big elephant in the water

[00:35:59] [SPEAKER_03]: it's like six meters big to manatee and actually saw one with writing yeah they're called manatee

[00:36:06] [SPEAKER_00]: also manatee yeah what's another name for a sea cow manatees as well as dogons

[00:36:15] [SPEAKER_00]: all right oh that would have been pretty cool to see while you're writing those things look massive

[00:36:20] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean yeah yeah they were huge actually I only saw like the back of it

[00:36:29] [SPEAKER_03]: then I immediately turned around again no I don't want to run into those things with the foil

[00:36:39] [SPEAKER_03]: I've they said the locals said they're pretty harmless but you know quite still quite some

[00:36:44] [SPEAKER_03]: big creatures and why don't you really see them that's true kind of scary when I was learning how to

[00:36:49] [SPEAKER_00]: wind surf on Vancouver Island there was a gray whale in so we were at nitnate lake which is a nice

[00:36:55] [SPEAKER_00]: lake there with an it's kind of well it's not really a lake but you can get in the ocean

[00:37:00] [SPEAKER_00]: and I went over this gray whale and it was like a bus-sized gray darkness under me

[00:37:08] [SPEAKER_01]: yeah and I can't I can't make the sure after's pretty terrified

[00:37:13] [SPEAKER_03]: yeah I would say it's very it's very special for me you know growing up in the politics

[00:37:21] [SPEAKER_03]: see where you basically don't see anything that's true no we don't have we literally don't have

[00:37:28] [SPEAKER_03]: anything dangerous in the water okay yeah so that's why I mean you just especially I kind of

[00:37:36] [SPEAKER_00]: looked out for some creatures in the water wait till you get to Hawaii you're other spots where

[00:37:43] [SPEAKER_00]: there's like man-eating things under the water yeah oh yeah oh what a weird thing no I don't

[00:37:50] [SPEAKER_00]: think that the risk in the chances so low that I think we just yeah I know but still it's in there

[00:37:57] [SPEAKER_00]: it's in there yeah it's it's still in there yeah so what are you looking forward to for the

[00:38:05] [SPEAKER_00]: rest of the season you said you had one more tour stop and and after that you just get to enjoy the

[00:38:11] [SPEAKER_03]: water for yourself for the year oh yeah thanks so maybe we have we're gonna have one more or two

[00:38:17] [SPEAKER_03]: more trips to maybe the colleries we're planning on we're planning on it right now okay yeah would be

[00:38:25] [SPEAKER_03]: really stuck together on the canaries this year too because it's like for me almost the best spot to go

[00:38:33] [SPEAKER_03]: to basically every day windy and beautiful watercolors perfect training spot and yeah so we got one more event

[00:38:49] [SPEAKER_03]: two weeks on so it's the wave open German wave championships and they also do three-star and

[00:38:58] [SPEAKER_03]: slanted but you know mainly we've tried to focus on on the wave discipline if we get the conditions

[00:39:06] [SPEAKER_03]: hopefully not too many waves and too much wind I don't know if you know a silk but it can

[00:39:13] [SPEAKER_03]: get quite messy quite fast and it starts to get out so yeah a really interesting spot actually

[00:39:25] [SPEAKER_03]: but I was there an April this year already so I could kindly get used to it and

[00:39:33] [SPEAKER_03]: no prepared myself a little bit because I know you better be prepared for that spot because it's like

[00:39:40] [SPEAKER_03]: you can compare it to oh no no it's some pretty puty isn't waves there can be okay actually super fun yeah

[00:39:50] [SPEAKER_03]: really really looking forwards to that event yeah and also it's my first like wave competition

[00:39:58] [SPEAKER_03]: haven't tried too much wave riding to now maybe I should do that today instead of trying front

[00:40:05] [SPEAKER_03]: maybe actually yeah maybe both yeah looking really forward to that one some okay that's pretty cool

[00:40:15] [SPEAKER_03]: and then just training to maybe get to the DWA level sometime that would be pretty fun that would be pretty fun

[00:40:27] [SPEAKER_03]: why yeah at least at least a big air competition yeah we're talking about that before

[00:40:32] [SPEAKER_00]: also like to fly high yeah do you have surfer app have you seen how high you've gone and

[00:40:39] [SPEAKER_03]: steps over ah not yet not yet unfortunately but I think I might look into that at today

[00:40:49] [SPEAKER_03]: actually recognize remembered make me remember about it right now actually yeah it's with the use

[00:40:56] [SPEAKER_03]: so thanks for that I'll activate it today yeah yeah I know I saw just you know I have to create

[00:41:02] [SPEAKER_03]: an account and to all the stuff that's cool but I think my highest jump but also train some big air

[00:41:08] [SPEAKER_03]: already I think my highest one I would guess was like six maybe seven meters at least the other

[00:41:15] [SPEAKER_03]: the other guy said it to me and it wasn't like that strong so maybe when there's 40 knots

[00:41:22] [SPEAKER_03]: on a waist spot here I can you know take my four meter and maybe send it even 10 meters high

[00:41:29] [SPEAKER_00]: like did it and oh the man alright so how you've done them six super super fun do you

[00:41:38] [SPEAKER_00]: flown 20 feet already right like 20 yeah 20 feet is is six meters or something so you

[00:41:43] [SPEAKER_00]: hit a big kicker I think it's doing does it loft you down like how quickly do you come down from that

[00:41:50] [SPEAKER_03]: at the pace obviously on a wind strong it is but you know when you come down come on to the wave

[00:41:59] [SPEAKER_03]: with like 40 kilometers per hour or maybe even more find the perfect kicker I mean you have

[00:42:08] [SPEAKER_03]: here you actually have to really find the perfect ramp you know has to be steep so you can really

[00:42:14] [SPEAKER_03]: kick off of it you know and just just boost yourself up have to time right have to good have to

[00:42:26] [SPEAKER_03]: have the right wing size for sure and you know just just send it lean into the wing tucking knees

[00:42:36] [SPEAKER_03]: and I actually prefer to do a normal start jump instead of doing rallies because I think you can

[00:42:45] [SPEAKER_03]: go higher with more control about that and it also feels more safe to me yeah I mean it has to

[00:42:55] [SPEAKER_03]: feel a little safer at least when you like 78 meters in here I mean really compared to what they did

[00:43:04] [SPEAKER_03]: and pozo one week ago it's nothing too different from but from my imaginary I think

[00:43:13] [SPEAKER_03]: a different would feel even more safe than a really wake-end see the board like for almost the

[00:43:21] [SPEAKER_00]: whole jump so how do you by now I'm just just sending just send bro just send it how are you

[00:43:31] [SPEAKER_00]: overcome fear and of that to work on some of these maneuvers actually I really like to

[00:43:43] [SPEAKER_03]: look at somebody somebody's video who did it already and no do that multiple times analyze it

[00:43:53] [SPEAKER_03]: and also from many different guys who did that move for example the front flip

[00:43:58] [SPEAKER_03]: no I like to compare them who did it how they did it differently to each other

[00:44:06] [SPEAKER_03]: and you know as I said analyze it and then once I get to go on the water really push myself

[00:44:13] [SPEAKER_03]: to actually do that because I know the feeling when you let a new move you so stoked after you go

[00:44:21] [SPEAKER_03]: out of the water and no just more happy than when you're doing your tricks that you can already do

[00:44:29] [SPEAKER_03]: of course there's some some days where it's like really annoying you still a little bit scared

[00:44:34] [SPEAKER_03]: of the move you want to try so you don't actually try them then but then you have to get ready

[00:44:41] [SPEAKER_03]: for the next session where it's not so windy to actually try them so that's been kind of my

[00:44:49] [SPEAKER_03]: yeah technique for allowing new moves and you just send it pretty great I think yeah so when

[00:44:58] [SPEAKER_03]: it's like really an early conditions where a little scared to try new moves I just try to go even

[00:45:07] [SPEAKER_03]: higher on my back loops for example try to get a combo maybe soon and you know just just my

[00:45:16] [SPEAKER_00]: tricks that I could already do and then you enjoy the title of under 19 champion you probably

[00:45:25] [SPEAKER_00]: perator on the island do you got a second or you got something

[00:45:31] [SPEAKER_03]: ah not a lot presenting it like that but

[00:45:35] [SPEAKER_00]: no no that's the one we've got your mailbox every pretty sick little flag in there

[00:45:43] [SPEAKER_00]: home of the end of the world champ right here yeah like oh my god there you go

[00:45:50] [SPEAKER_03]: a little back off my hand it this pretty sick no don't yeah so it must be pretty cool

[00:45:56] [SPEAKER_00]: to write with your family then like can we talk a little bit about that like if your dad got

[00:46:01] [SPEAKER_00]: into the sport it must be must be a pretty cool experience to write do any of your other

[00:46:05] [SPEAKER_03]: siblings or does your mom write as well yeah so unfortunately don't the only guy that's also doing

[00:46:16] [SPEAKER_03]: what is both in the family is my dad by now I like to say maybe we can still convince my mom

[00:46:25] [SPEAKER_03]: sister okay you're working on it yeah we work on it but you know you don't want to force them

[00:46:33] [SPEAKER_00]: no that's true at least I find that something special for you and your dad to share that's pretty cool

[00:46:38] [SPEAKER_00]: that's nice so you what time is it over there now must be

[00:46:44] [SPEAKER_03]: plus uh it's actually 18 17 right now so it's still even in right now

[00:46:52] [SPEAKER_00]: it's six you could say six yeah okay all right you're gonna get a session did you get to win this

[00:46:59] [SPEAKER_03]: did you get a session in today you're gonna go and that's yet I will go still but it's like

[00:47:06] [SPEAKER_03]: the sun is out to 11 you know that's what I love about summer here so long the days

[00:47:15] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know last week I've been out on the water to like 11 yeah

[00:47:22] [SPEAKER_03]: was was really nice to tell it was completely dark that's awesome it's like the best feeling

[00:47:29] [SPEAKER_03]: to be out all day till the day actually that's true actually that's true actually yeah

[00:47:39] [SPEAKER_03]: how long how long is it a bright encounter at the time probably tell about what does it get

[00:47:46] [SPEAKER_00]: though I'm only around 9 30 9 o'clock so we can have some pretty late sessions here as well okay

[00:47:53] [SPEAKER_00]: but that's yeah that's it all right we don't get a lot of wind in the summertime but

[00:47:58] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm heading to Vancouver Island soon and there's some really nice lakes there where it's more of a

[00:48:08] [SPEAKER_03]: and we can get some pretty good stuff pushing 25 but actually did you did you see Lasis Lasis double

[00:48:16] [SPEAKER_03]: flow yeah this looks really yeah he has a pv angle check that no you can really

[00:48:26] [SPEAKER_03]: see it but I figured it to rotations too but it's also pretty easy yeah absolutely no but you see

[00:48:35] [SPEAKER_03]: moves especially in puv's perspective you think like that that's too easy but then you have to

[00:48:41] [SPEAKER_03]: remember you have like 40 knots of wind you know ripping on your save no what all that stands in

[00:48:50] [SPEAKER_03]: sane and 40 it's crazy it's crazy you are like a 3.5 yeah super over part to meet the clickers

[00:49:01] [SPEAKER_03]: and you need to get to that spot where it did as well it was actually in Denmark but it's a different

[00:49:06] [SPEAKER_00]: spot wow that's crazy well hey I hope you enjoy your session and maybe before we go what is your

[00:49:14] [SPEAKER_03]: favorite German dessert who I mean we're not super super German here with with the food especially

[00:49:24] [SPEAKER_03]: okay but especially our family we're not like too much into food here but one I really like is

[00:49:36] [SPEAKER_03]: canned knudde it's like you know this blue moon it's actually called

[00:49:47] [SPEAKER_03]: and you can actually try that and during the october fast I think you know it's like really

[00:49:56] [SPEAKER_03]: really sweet but not too sweet no it gets you full that's what I like because why would you eat

[00:50:03] [SPEAKER_03]: something that's not bringing yourself in that's can't that's kind of the USA right there just why

[00:50:13] [SPEAKER_03]: would you yeah I don't know why why would you eat something but you know it doesn't have a

[00:50:22] [SPEAKER_03]: advantage really you know you just eat it for that's all that is over here I mean obviously

[00:50:28] [SPEAKER_03]: you sometimes yeah sometimes you do this but you know not all the time yeah I hear you're

[00:50:37] [SPEAKER_03]: different what's it but that's yeah that's one okay one dessert that I really like nice so

[00:50:45] [SPEAKER_00]: if there's people looking you get a hold of you what's easiest way for them to reach out to

[00:50:52] [SPEAKER_03]: obviously Instagram I don't know if you will link it down below but it's Josh M.R.Y

[00:51:00] [SPEAKER_03]: and notes my my after name but not a whole work okay and then I also I'm also working on

[00:51:11] [SPEAKER_03]: website it's also just just Josh my dot DE for Germany

[00:51:21] [SPEAKER_03]: yeah my email oh there it is but mostly my Instagram I mean you can contact me there just yeah

[00:51:28] [SPEAKER_00]: yeah I think you're in charge of Josh my or dot DE yeah so j oh s a j mi y e dot DE it's not yeah

[00:51:38] [SPEAKER_00]: actually it's not finished yet but that's awesome all right well hey man thanks we're taking the time to show

[00:51:44] [SPEAKER_00]: me today and I hope you have a heck of a good session this time yeah sure the same pleasure

[00:51:52] [SPEAKER_03]: yeah trying to get some new tricks and you know just send it pretty much and bring back the machine man

[00:52:00] [SPEAKER_03]: bring back the machine yeah I need to go so why they call me the machine again there you go

[00:52:11] [SPEAKER_01]: well hey everybody thanks for joining Josh and I and we're looking forward to the next one
