All right, I think we're rolling my friend. Hey, thanks for joining us on the show today.
Ancor (00:18.154)
Yeah, nice to have me.
Luc Moore (00:21.015)
I saw two of your movies and they were pretty cool. And also we're just watching some of your Instagram reels and amazing writing, unbelievable stuff. How and when and why did you think about starting into wing foiling?
Ancor (00:39.138)
Yeah, mean wing foiling, I was first, I started with windsurfing and then I passed to kiting and then I saw this new sport, the wing foiling coming up and I was like, whoa, I need to try that. And then it went like boom and I started wing foiling and it went like super good. So now I'm here.
Luc Moore (00:59.214)
When did you start windsurfing?
Ancor (01:02.72)
I started windsurfing when I was eight or seven, I don't know, I don't remember.
Luc Moore (01:09.794)
Where did you grow up then? What island? I'm assuming it was a windy one.
Ancor (01:13.442)
Yeah, I grew up in Fuerte, it's a super nice island here and I had the opportunity that my parents had a windsurfing school so I learned there and it was perfect.
Luc Moore (01:28.46)
no way, how long have your parents been doing windsurfing then?
Ancor (01:32.236)
I mean my mom is like since she was 19 or something like that she started windsurfing and yeah when the masts were wooden and stuff like that and yeah she has competed even in the PWA and stuff like that so I'm really stoked.
Luc Moore (01:51.184)
no way. So then you were exposed to it at a super young age. And do you remember what your first kind of rides felt like back then?
Ancor (01:58.974)
Yeah, I mean it was crazy. Actually it was like a super bad day. It was a horrible like side onshore wind day. They took me out with the kayak pedaling out. The school was like even closed and I just wanted to try it, you know. And we went out with a friend. He told me how to do it. And yeah, it was amazing. I was like so up to it and yeah. I tried it. I fell like a hundred times and then I was like, okay, there's not that easy definite.
But I kept doing it and yeah, it was nice.
Luc Moore (02:33.76)
Obviously uphauling and how long did I take it and now your first water start?
Ancor (02:38.754)
I mean, actually once the conditions got better I improved a lot quite fast I think it was because I was like a really young kid I was like eight I think in first water-started windsurfing I did like first week or something like that
Luc Moore (02:50.222)
Mm-hmm.
Luc Moore (02:57.25)
Yeah. I guess you're growing up in a beautiful spot where it's windy a lot and you had parents who were into it. So that definitely helped.
Ancor (03:04.948)
Yeah, it was poopy.
Luc Moore (03:07.731)
Nice from windsurfing you said you went to kiting afterwards what brought you to that was that just a new sport or
Ancor (03:14.538)
yeah I mean I love windsurfing I still love it I do it a lot I mean now not anymore so much but that feeling of kiting of jumping and stuff like that that took me like wow that was amazing and yeah I think yeah it was something new I tried it out and I loved it so I think I went that way it was quite nice
Luc Moore (03:37.493)
Now, windsurfing wise, did you get to some freestyle tricks? Like what was your discipline that you liked the most?
Ancor (03:44.714)
Yeah, I was doing freestyle. I even do the European tour, the EFPT. I was there like three years in a row and it was super nice and yeah, definitely like mostly freestyling. There, the spot where we are here in Fuerte is like definitely super flat. It's like France in Le Cote is super flat and yeah, so I started freestyling.
Luc Moore (04:10.27)
So what tricks obviously did you, did you get to, or what were your favorite ones?
Ancor (04:15.562)
Yeah, I I was doing funnels, double flacca's and stuff. Yeah. Super fun.
Luc Moore (04:22.285)
Holy shit, forwards and back loops and stuff too.
Ancor (04:25.076)
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, everything. mean not everything, but everything I could do at the time. was like, I was training a lot. was going, I was coming from school, going in the water and staying there. And the whole summer I was like eight hours a day in the water. Hands were bleeding, everything. It was crazy.
Luc Moore (04:42.136)
Sweet. Training into your first forward loop because I'm a windsurfer and I've never had the courage because I learned started like a 29 or something. So was like, I'm not looping. But how was that for the first time in training and did that ever scare you or?
Ancor (05:01.066)
I mean, I had some respect to do it but I mean, I had some friends that were doing it so I thought if they are doing it, I need to do it and I mean it was definitely painful like it's hurting your back the first times you're slamming against the wall super hard but yeah it was nice
Luc Moore (05:05.559)
Yeah.
Luc Moore (05:23.532)
Cause your tricks into kiting and then into foiling, like obviously your front flipping and winging now and 720s or 1080s as well. Are you starting to look at the 14s? Where are you rotation wise?
Ancor (05:37.598)
Yeah, I'm starting to look at two 14s, but man it's getting harder and harder now. Let's see.
Luc Moore (05:47.212)
Because I know Chris has them unlocked Benji castanoid from Mexico. They're ripping and they're doing those. Yeah, I followed them around because I was in Baja this winter and it's just crazy seeing you guys close up right and seeing how high how much height you need and how much stall you need for a 14.
Ancor (05:52.778)
Yeah, they are rippy.
Ancor (06:00.61)
Thanks.
Yeah.
Ancor (06:08.438)
Yeah, yeah, man, we need to spin so fast to rotate them. It's like crazy to land them because you're starting to spin, spin, spin, but there is a moment you need to stop, like stop and land that thing. It's crazy.
Luc Moore (06:21.91)
How do you stop if you're rotating that quickly to keep getting around?
Ancor (06:27.328)
Man, I don't even know. We just like do it. I don't know. It's like, it's so fast you don't think about it. I think he's trying to push against a bit. But yeah.
Luc Moore (06:32.542)
Yeah, okay.
Luc Moore (06:38.857)
Yeah, I can imagine.
Luc Moore (06:44.843)
Do you have any tricks for front or back flips? Like Benji says he closes his eyes for the first half of the, or for the first single rotation. And then he goes into a second and he's looking down. Do you have any tricks like that too?
Ancor (06:56.96)
yeah I mean Benji is crazy we were at the photo shoot he's in my in my team in Fuerte and yeah he's definitely crazy going double backflips with the eyes closed it's it's really sick yeah I mean my tip is to try as hard as you can and crash like hundreds of times but don't give up just one time you will get it once it's like clicking in your head it's like everything a bit easier
Luc Moore (07:03.562)
Yeah.
Luc Moore (07:20.938)
Mm-hmm.
Luc Moore (07:25.427)
Do you guys visualize stuff on land before you go through a new trick? Like practice it with your wing trampoline?
Ancor (07:32.31)
You know, the best thing is if you like dream of it. If you dream it at night, you're gonna land it for sure the next day. It's like, it's like perfect. I'm every night I'm trying to learn a trick. I'm like, man, I hope I'm dreaming of it. And then next day it's on. Yeah.
Luc Moore (07:49.099)
Boom. that's so sweet. So I guess entering into wind sports was fairly natural because of your, your family. what was be your greatest, let's say achievement or significant moment so far in your career? Cause you've had some pretty cool moments, even though you're 17.
Ancor (08:11.208)
Yeah, I mean think my best moment was the first time I went the first year I started like really focusing on GWA my first event was in New Zealand and there I got my fourth place and I think that was the best thing till now and yeah let's see now this year how it goes
Luc Moore (08:35.048)
Now that was what disciplines did you do in? Cause that was the first ever one in New Zealand, right?
Ancor (08:40.416)
Yeah, the first and last one. I got fourth in freestyling. On racing I did too, but I don't know. At that time I was not really focusing on racing.
Luc Moore (08:53.139)
Yeah, but you've certainly picked up your racing though, haven't you?
Ancor (08:56.084)
yeah yeah now i'm training a lot we are improving our gear so yeah a lot of racing going on now
Luc Moore (09:04.575)
Nice. How any injuries so far? I know that one movie was a knee injury, right?
Ancor (09:10.208)
Yeah, last year man that was horrible. I like broke my meniscus after the comp in Fuerte. I was really lucky because we had this comp in Fuerte and like there was a quite big gap between Fuerte and the next GWA freestyle comp in Brazil. So I had to like recover in four months. I needed to be there. I mean last year Brazil was definitely not my best comp because
I went there and the first time I went in the water was already in At least we tried it.
Luc Moore (09:44.49)
Mm hmm. That's true. How was the recovery process like? And a by the way, who shot that movie for you? Because that thing was sweet.
Ancor (09:56.11)
Yeah, that movie was done by my sister. So she's she's starting to do some films and stuff Videos my reels are nearly every reel of me is from her. So yeah, it's super nice to have her She's like supporting me a lot in my social media site Yeah
Luc Moore (09:59.675)
cool.
Luc Moore (10:14.824)
that's amazing. So she's the one that does all the video recording and all that kind of thing.
Ancor (10:20.17)
Yeah, she is, she is.
Luc Moore (10:23.023)
amazing. Here, let's hop over there real quick. So what is your Instagram handle?
Ancor (10:29.055)
And what? My Instagram?
Luc Moore (10:31.079)
What's your, yeah, your Instagram is just your name. So it's anchor underscore Sosa.
Ancor (10:34.196)
Yeah, it's my name. It's anchor underscore sosa. Yeah, exactly.
Luc Moore (10:40.756)
that's so cool that she's and that's Zoe photography. Well let's give her a follow.
Ancor (10:45.194)
Yeah. Nice.
Luc Moore (10:47.812)
nice man. Cool.
Ancor (10:49.546)
Yeah, yeah, she's working at it.
Luc Moore (10:54.034)
So staying in shape, obviously, how was the recovery process for you to get yourself back to competition state?
Ancor (11:01.46)
Yeah, it was like quite hard. was like once I broke my knee I broke it like I broke a training here in one spot here wave riding on the kite and It happened like so quick and that moment I got to the hospital Here in the north. It was like the whole was the whole word for me was like I'm done It's finished for me because I got to the hospital and they they did like this
Luc Moore (11:25.175)
Mm-hmm.
Ancor (11:31.316)
how it's called.
Luc Moore (11:31.814)
Yeah, MRI,
Ancor (11:34.302)
Yeah, and they first they told me like it's super bad. It's gonna be really the worst thing ever But then it showed like it's a bit better. It's just the meniscus. So there I like calm a bit down But yeah, then the recovery was pure I I have a friend here that is a physio and I was like nearly every day with him We were like doing small steps step by step first starting to walk again
because I was like quite a long time without walking and it was like I think it was like more mentally I was like a bit scared to start walking again but yeah once I started walking I started training and training and training and yeah we got to that point where he said okay you're allowed to go to Brazil but start waiting there and go bit by bit and yeah I was super stoked about that
Luc Moore (12:07.081)
awesome. it's it's fully better now and you're hitting obviously you're doing a bit of gym work and a whole bunch of other strengthening work.
to strengthen your whole lower half, I guess.
Ancor (12:39.028)
yeah i mean before that accident i was doing nothing i was just like winging and kiting all day but yeah after that i think it's also good for me that something happens then i can learn i mean it's not the best but i definitely learned of it and yeah now i'm doing lots loads of workouts and stuff like that to keep my body strong and to avoid some injuries
Luc Moore (13:05.191)
Yeah, that's fair. Do you think it adds to a bit of the grit and determination or just focus that you need to win an event? Because these kids, like they're like, all of you guys are insanely good, but the level keeps going up. So you think this injury could help you propel you to that level?
Ancor (13:23.904)
Yeah, I mean when I came back to wing it like these three months gap It was like crazy. Everyone did like new tricks on this three months. It was like 15 new tricks I was like no way every day. I was looking Instagram and three new tricks It was crazy and I came back and I was like damn now I need to learn all this stuff. But yeah Definitely now I'm like trying to keep up and I'm keeping my definitely and
Luc Moore (13:44.167)
That's true.
Ancor (13:54.02)
I mean this is gonna be the first time I'm like full power now we are going to look at now So let's see there how it's
Luc Moore (14:00.229)
Mm-hmm.
Alright, alright, and who are you riding for?
Ancor (14:07.01)
Yeah, I'm writing for Cabrina and Dakain. I'm really happy to have them. They are a super, super nice team and a super nice brand. So really nice to have them.
Luc Moore (14:18.289)
How was that introduction into Pro for you? Did they approach you? Did you reach out? How'd that cool process go?
Ancor (14:25.352)
Yeah, I mean, I knew like one-
Person that is called friend. He helped me a lot. I first started like with him He gave me a bit of gear and stuff But then when I started competing more and more then they reached out to me and they told me to Like if I wanted to have a contract with them and then I started also with that kind and all this thing So yeah, it was a really nice process every time you get a bit more. You're like wow. This is so nice
Luc Moore (14:57.351)
That must be kind of cool, turning pro like that.
Ancor (15:01.705)
Yeah, it's super nice.
Luc Moore (15:03.24)
So I guess we talked a little bit about those challenges and how they've made you stronger. So that's kind of cool. What sort of long-term goals do you have in wing foiling, trick wise or event wise?
Ancor (15:18.09)
Yeah, I mean this year I will try to do all the events. started already with, I mean at the start of the year we had like one event that it was indoor. It was like in Germany at the boat. This was already quite fun. We were doing some indoor runs like in a pool with some fans. This was something new and really crazy. I really liked it because there is a lot of impact for the social media and stuff. So it was really nice. And then like a weeks ago I was
was in Cape Verde, I was like a long time there and I was training a lot of wave. This was my first event in the wave discipline and it wasn't quite good because I got the 9th place. I mean it can always go better but for the first event I think it was quite okay. yeah my focus now for the future gonna be to do the whole tour and at least get the best position I can get. I'm already really happy.
to be in there and be going around the world with the tour it's so nice and that I can do it all the supports I get from the Canary Islands and from my brands it's like already helping me so much so yeah I'm really happy about that
Luc Moore (16:35.866)
Yeah, I can only imagine that must be pretty special. Talking about that event that happened indoors. How was that for the first ever indoor event?
Ancor (16:44.682)
Yeah man, that was crazy. We got there and it was like, first it was a bit sketchy because the pool was a bit shallow, the wind was a bit light, but then we got it going and I think it was quite nice. There was like a lot of people around. You could like, I mean it was super good for me because the people got to know me a bit more and it was super nice for me because my mother is also German so I learned German since I'm
small and there I could like defend myself quite okay and yeah I got to know a lot of people a lot of people got to know me so it was super nice there I mean condition wise it was a bit hard but I quite liked it
Luc Moore (17:19.032)
Yeah.
Luc Moore (17:32.421)
So that was what, pump foiling and then you got some racing as well, but you had to get towed up on foil and then you had a bigger wing, but kind of cool experience though, isn't it?
Ancor (17:41.076)
Yeah, it was sick. I was there, we got towed in. I was doing this wing foil slalom. And yeah, it was so nice to be part of the first one. And yeah, was super cool actually. Super cool.
Luc Moore (17:53.061)
Sweet. And then that was your first time in Cabo. Verne?
Ancor (17:59.298)
Yeah, it was my first time in Cabo Verde and it was beautiful. It was like, yeah.
Luc Moore (18:02.544)
Let's talk about that. Talk about that pump and wave.
Ancor (18:06.228)
yeah that was definitely not pumping that was more like escaping but yeah i i passed like i came there to south ponta preta and i was like nah there's no chance i can go that fast on a wave but yeah we we got it going and yeah i was there like one month's training before before the comp because i was like yeah i want to do this thing right i haven't trained a lot of wave and i
Luc Moore (18:11.502)
Yeah.
Ancor (18:36.152)
got in because I actually I didn't get into the comp but someone didn't came and they called me they reached me out and so was so stoked to get in and then I went one month before and I was like training full power every day I went there with Nia Suardia as a friend of me and yeah she won the comp and yeah we were there she's a ripper definitely yeah she's ripping everything she's winning and winning
Luc Moore (18:55.741)
nice. Yeah, she's a ripper.
Yeah.
Oh cool, so she helped introduce you to the spot.
Ancor (19:09.122)
Yeah, definitely. went, actually we went before that, before Sao, we went to another island that's Boa Vista. We were there like long time. We were there where Wesley and all the guys trained. It was a super nice place there. And there we were training like every day, every day we were in the water and we had like super nice conditions there. And yeah, before the comp we went to Sao. She introduced me there into Ponta Preta.
that to the rocks I got to meet every rock there in my wings too and my foils but yeah it was it was a nice experience definitely
Luc Moore (19:50.67)
So that thing apparently just jacks up and throws, right? Like that's a pretty crazy wave.
Ancor (19:54.966)
Yeah, it's crazy. It's like the wave is here and the rocks are like one meter next to you. If you go too low, you hit the rocks. It's like that. Yeah.
Luc Moore (20:06.573)
So you can't, so you have to, and how do you tell? Are you writing shorter mass? how, and depth perception must be really important.
Ancor (20:12.074)
Yeah, I mean...
Yeah, it also depends a lot I think on the tide and how big the waves are if the waves are quite big Then it's okay because the wave is breaking a bit further out and you have no problems And we had a lot of luck in the comp. We did like the first two days we had like big swell and we were doing the comp there but yeah, we had like definitely definitely some shallow days after that and Yeah, I mean we were going on an 80. I was on an 84
Luc Moore (20:19.266)
Yeah.
Ancor (20:44.704)
master was okay but you couldn't go too far of the wave because also if you go on a shorter master at 84 on that speed you get on the wave you cannot it's super hard to control your board so 84 I think was perfect
Luc Moore (20:46.345)
All right
Luc Moore (21:00.108)
if you're going shorter mass, it's harder to control.
Ancor (21:02.978)
yeah, because it's a super fast wave on the stream, I was looking at the stream and I was like, damn, you cannot see how fast we are going but once you're on that wave it's like pretty scary fast because it's like breaking the first part it's okay but then it's like 20 meters that is going like, phoom and at that point you need to have an 84 at least
Luc Moore (21:29.333)
Hmm. What kind of foil are you using to keep up with it?
Ancor (21:33.666)
Yeah, I'm going on the high aspect, the 700 of Cobrina, but if it got too big I was going on the 550.
Luc Moore (21:44.868)
50, all right, and small 60 or 70 for a fuse.
Ancor (21:46.443)
Yeah.
Ancor (21:50.178)
Yeah, the shortest one. We have like three sizes, large, medium and small. I was on the small one. And 180 tail wing.
Luc Moore (21:53.571)
Join us.
Luc Moore (22:02.243)
Oh, all right. OK. Have you played with tail wings as low as 130 or 140 and up for waves like that? What do you think?
Ancor (22:04.108)
Yeah.
Ancor (22:10.314)
Yeah, I haven't tried like a proper one. I have chopped mine, but it was definitely not working yet. But yeah, it's fun to try out new things. Definitely.
Luc Moore (22:23.363)
Hmm. Okay. Any, and then you're heading to France next. Looking forward to that. So how, obviously you went with your folks and they were able to stay and you guys, your dad get out or your mom get out to that wave as well?
Ancor (22:30.892)
Yeah.
Ancor (22:42.05)
No, I went alone. I just I went with Mia straight away there Yeah, we're like good friends from for a long time like when we were windsurfers before Yeah Yeah, yeah, we're like nearly family always when we are in a competition so it's nice
Luc Moore (22:44.968)
yeah, with Nia? sick, okay.
Luc Moore (22:54.419)
no way. So you guys both started like at super, super young together.
Luc Moore (23:04.902)
nice. Yeah, obviously she took that one. Any kind of any other sponsors that you would like to come on? Are you happy with all the ones that you have so far?
Ancor (23:07.914)
Yeah.
Ancor (23:16.578)
Yeah, I I would love to get as much sponsors as I can, but I'm super happy with the ones I have now. Cabrinha is a super nice brand, they're too. And I'm getting a lot of support from the Canary Islands, from like the government of here, from Ayuntamiento de Pájara and all this. And yeah, they are helping me a lot, really a lot.
Luc Moore (23:25.641)
Yeah.
Luc Moore (23:39.562)
that's amazing. How is that to hop on a plane, travel and because you know, some some kids if you're how do you do school? Are you at home? Are you homeschooled? Or do you go to a regular school or?
Ancor (23:54.432)
No, I'm doing homeschooling. There is like one platform in Spain called CvApp. I'm on that one. And yeah, it's okay. It's a bit hard once you're traveling and stuff, but it's okay.
Luc Moore (24:10.966)
Yeah, that must be pretty cool to be able to travel all to those different locations and then hang out with people and then go back and that's quite the experience.
Ancor (24:19.602)
It's best life man, I love it and I'm so grateful to do that because I know it's not easy to get to the point I am and I'm really grateful everything went right and now I'm here, I'm having my sponsors that can support me and stuff so I'm super happy about that and yeah it's best thing you can do competing around doing the tour it's so nice it's like wow
Luc Moore (24:47.389)
Is it just end up being one big kind of friends group family kind of thing? And even though you guys are competing, it's all kind of it's all nice time together.
Ancor (24:52.364)
Yeah.
Ancor (24:56.554)
Yeah, we are like the whole tour is like super nice people. We are like one big group. We all stay together. We do everything together. We go out together at nights to go to eat and stuff. It's super nice.
Luc Moore (25:13.858)
Hmm. All right. All right. Now, obviously, what do you like the most about Cabrinha? Their gear wise.
Ancor (25:21.494)
Man, the best. The gear wise. Gear wise, it's definitely, I'm using now the Mantis on the wings. I love the wing. It's like a super rigid and fast turning wing. I really love it. I mean, Benji is going on the vision, but we have like two different point of views of it. I think both wings are like crazy good. And this year we have like...
Introduce some new materials to our canopy and stuff. We've changed the one from last year to a new one and that has helped us a really a lot and Yeah, definitely the mantis is my favorite and on boards. I'm going on the four five coat
Luc Moore (26:10.721)
Do you take part in any of that R &D with them giving feedback and seeing that kind of make its way up the chain to the developers and stuff?
Ancor (26:21.696)
Yeah, I mean this year I've started to like work more with the developing of the gear. I'm super stoked about that because now I have like the contacts of the people that are doing like the foils, the boards and stuff and the wings. And yeah, this year we have been focusing on doing a new foil and we're working on it. I mean, I'm just giving a few tips and stuff. They are asking me what I like the most and stuff like that. And yeah, I'm
Luc Moore (26:37.022)
Mm-hmm.
Luc Moore (26:45.773)
Yeah. All right, folks, you heard it. Some of my friends back in Ottawa, Canada ride Cabrinha and they love their wings. And so I just wanted to ask for that.
Ancor (26:51.66)
giving a bit of feedback so I think and soon there is coming a new foil so be ready for it and let's see
Luc Moore (27:12.723)
Do you mod like if you're riding a foil, for example, are you getting something customized to you? Do go back and say, hey, guys, like I need to be able to do this trick or I want to be able to ride this wave. Can you slightly modify something? Is that what you guys do to kind of compete?
Ancor (27:27.552)
Yeah, I mean now on the next one it gonna be crazy good I'm already feeling it's gonna be the best foil out there So we won't need any change and now I mean the foil we have now it's it's good enough to to compete against the guys so Right now it's okay
Luc Moore (27:31.84)
Mm-hmm.
Luc Moore (27:37.674)
Don't eat anything.
Luc Moore (27:47.282)
Okay, so where has been your favorite spot that you've gotten to travel to so far?
Ancor (27:54.402)
Wow, mean Cape Verde now is the time ever. But I think New Zealand, New Zealand was super nice. It was like completely different world, Canary Islands, was definitely like a hundred times more green here, it's like fully a desert. And yeah, conditions in New Zealand are super nice. We traveled a bit to Ragland and stuff like that, it was super nice.
Luc Moore (28:11.776)
you
Luc Moore (28:19.497)
Got a lot of big companies out of Raglan, like Armstrong's out of there, Axis is out in that kind of area. Who else? You got North, PPC, a bunch of people out there. I'm sick. Any big rivals on the tour that you look at to see if you could take over this year?
Ancor (28:25.224)
yeah yeah yeah north yeah yeah it's super nice place super good for riding
Ancor (28:41.066)
I mean, I'm trying to beat everyone but yeah, I go slowly but bit by bit, bit by bit. Last year I think I finished ninth so my goal is at least finish ninth or better. So yeah, trying to better my spot from now.
Luc Moore (29:01.415)
And are you able to share what tricks you're working on or you want to keep that under your hat?
Ancor (29:06.742)
Yeah, I mean there is one trick I'm trying for a few months that is definitely secret but yeah, I mean I'm trying to keep up with everyone definitely Yeah, nice
Luc Moore (29:18.526)
Yeah, that's fair, that's Cool, man. Well, hey, thanks for coming on. Is there anything else you want to put out to your sponsors or to people that follow you on Instagram and stuff like that?
Ancor (29:29.378)
I think thanks everyone for supporting me also Every people if you want to follow me just follow me on my Instagram. It's anchor Sosa I'm trying to grow a bit. But yeah, I'm thankful for everyone For everyone that is supporting me on social media my sponsors everyone my family is also doing a big big work and Yeah, I'm thankful of everything
Luc Moore (29:59.821)
and what's your sister's Instagram for her videography?
Ancor (30:03.498)
Yeah, my sister's Instagram, the video one is like Soka, it's like a mix of my two surnames. It's like S-O-K-A and then photos I think.
Luc Moore (30:18.535)
Yeah, I'm on there right now. Is there another one then we should follow too?
Ancor (30:22.996)
Yeah, the one of my sister. She is like starting to do some kiting and winging. She's already quite good at kiting. And yeah, she's like doing some free ride and stuff and she's a super nice person. So go and follow her too. And yeah, that's it. Zoe, Zoe Sosa.
Luc Moore (30:30.509)
sweet.
Luc Moore (30:42.75)
Zoe and then SOSA.
Ancor (30:45.886)
Yeah, think so is a weak kind. have no idea. Yeah, something like that.
Luc Moore (30:48.758)
a Zoe Sosa kite. there we go. We found her. sick. Let's see what she has. Yeah, kiting's super fun, eh? Like, is there a discipline that you like the most? Or are they all playin'? Yeah.
Ancor (30:55.617)
Yeah.
Ancor (31:03.97)
I love kiting in the waves. I love that like that turns in the wave. I love it It's that you can go like full center the way you can destroy the thing that man. It's so nice. I also loved I was doing like big air I was training bigger for a while and Yeah, I loved it. It wasn't our spot there in Matas Bay and Where I live it's like super good because in the summer we have like 30 knots every day and I was like training a bit
Luc Moore (31:21.246)
Mm-hmm.
Ancor (31:34.124)
and some loop variations. So happy about that too. And yeah, I'm trying to be the best I can on every sport.
Luc Moore (31:43.741)
Yeah, how is like getting into looping and stuff like that? You're getting some pretty good hang time. Crazy acceleration through that turn,
Ancor (31:51.81)
Yeah, it's something new. It's definitely something you didn't get on windsurfing because you get definitely some bigger heights than on windsurfing and it's way easier than jumping and doing stuff on the windsurf. It was super nice to get on Kaede. It was a super nice time for me. I had a lot of fun and yeah, it was that feeling of doing a loop and getting pulled like and
Luc Moore (31:57.874)
Mm-hmm.
Luc Moore (32:17.726)
That's awesome. then when do you find winging is a hybrid of that? It's kind of a little bit of both, right? You get a little bit of the windsurfing jumps. Yeah. Yeah.
Ancor (32:21.774)
Even crashing, I love crashing man. Crashing like full sand against the water is crazy.
Ancor (32:35.978)
yeah it's like a mix yeah it's definitely a mix I think I was like quite lucky to already know to windsurf before I started winging because there are a bunch of tricks that are similar like front loops and back loops and stuff it's a bit similar so I think that helped me a lot
Luc Moore (32:59.045)
Hmm. All right, my friend. Well, hey, I hope that you enjoy France and any favorite foods you're looking forward to eating down there or over there.
Ancor (33:07.18)
Man, to cheese, definitely I go for cheese. I'm gonna be whole day competing and eating cheese. I think I will be eating cheese and competing, definitely.
Luc Moore (33:20.861)
All right, send us some pictures and some reels. You're eating some cheese at the spot and that'll be a good time. All right, man. Well, hey, thanks for chatting with us today and yeah, hope you had a good time.
Ancor (33:24.788)
Yeah, I will. I will. Yeah.
Ancor (33:32.386)
Yeah, thanks for having me.
Luc Moore (33:37.521)
Alright guys, we'll see you in the next one.
Ancor (33:40.33)
